Kako nam je bilo: izlet na Kalnik

Nenad Šantalab piše o izletu na Kalnik.

Za sve one koji su samo čuli za Križevce i njihovu prelijepu okolicu donosim dio iz knjige „Poučna staza na Kalniku“ kako biste saznali nešto o prebogatoj povijesti ovoga kraja kojega smo posjetili u nedjelju 22. veljače: „Stari rimski put iznad sela Kalnika presijeca greben Kalnika na dva dijela s vrhovima Vuklencom (615 m) i Vranilcem (643 m).

Na krševitom brdu Vuklencu iznad kapelice sv. Kataline izgrađena je tvrđava Kalnik. Stari grad Kalnik prvi put se spominje 5. lipnja 1243. godine u ispravi kralja Bele IV. Vjerojatno je postojao još za vrijeme Rimljana jer je stari rimski put iz Glogovnice do Varaždinskih Toplica vodio ispod stijene na kojoj je sagrađena tvrđava Kalnik. Nakon što su Tatari osvojili Ugarsku i dio Hrvatske, pod Kalnikom su doživjeli prvi poraz. Tako Kukuljević piše: “Kod Kalnika primili su Tatari prvi neugodni pozdrav od Hrvata na hrvatskoj zemlji” (sl. 6 i 7; I. Đuričić 1995).“ (izvor: Đ.Rauš i I. Ove godine najveća (66 članova) izletnička grupa HPD „Bilogora“ iz Bjelovara i članova Planinarske sekcije UHDDR-a Bjelovar posjetila je tvrđavu Veliki Kalnik i planinarski dom HPD „Kalnik“ Križevci. Dom se nalazi na 500 m/nv i otvoren je još 1935. godine. Može primiti oko 150 planinara i iz njega se može poći na više lijepih izleta u bližu i dalju okolicu. Tako postoje staze koje vode do Varaždinskih Toplica, Novog Marofa, Koprivnice i Sv. Petra Orehovca. Polaznicima Opće planinarske škole HPD „Bilogora“ ovo je bio krunski izlet nakon kojega ih očekuje polaganje ispita iz stečenih znanja, a ostalim izletnicima izazov i uživanje s obzirom da su cijeli dan imali snijeg i idiličnu atmosferu. Obilazak starog grada Mali Kalnik i Starog grada Veliki Kalnik te uspinjanje do najvišeg vrha Kalnika Vranilovca na 643 m/nm bili su vrhunci izleta.
